Qualifications
- BLS Certification
- Have a Perinatal Nursing Certificate or willingness to complete upon hire or within three years.
- Must have Current General Class (Practicing) Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Have a Current STABLE Program or ACORN provider an asset.
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Provider within three months of hire
- Experience with sanctioned medical acts of a NICU (capillary blood work, IVs, suctioning of ETTs) and added nursing skills
- Demonstrates knowledge of Neonatal standards of care, including ventilated infants
- Recent experience in an Advanced Level II Nursery, Level III Nursery or completion of the George Brown perinatal course
- Must Complete a Basic Level Breast Feeding Certificate (preferred) or willing to complete within six months of employment (required).
- Ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines/professions in a team environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent attendance record
- Proven time management, planning, coordination, and organization skills
- Must know about the management and intervention of infants requiring acute care and pre-term and full-term infant pathophysiology.

- 1+ year of experience in a NICU providing care to tertiary care patients in Level III in the last two years OR Completion of BCIT Neonatal Nursing Course diploma (or equivalent program)
- Must be a graduate from an approved Nursing Education program; current practicing registration as an RN with the BC College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
- Must have Current Newborn Resuscitation Certification and adult CPR.
