Duties & Responsibilities
The PICU is a high-tech children’s services area for medically complex, critically ill, and post-surgical patients. The pediatric intensive care RN works with physicians, families, and other healthcare officials to determine the best patient care and recovery course. The RN provides care for children and adolescents, usually up to 18, with high-acuity or life-threatening conditions requiring constant monitoring. The Pediatric intensive care RN prioritizes careful patient monitoring and frequently reports to the pediatrician and family on the patient’s condition and what they can expect in recovery.
